Casting Callout: Irnfried

Show Summary

Die Hunnenkönigin (The Hun Queen) follows Burgundian princess Kriemhild, who, after the murder of her husband Siegfried, joins the Huns and rises to become the most powerful woman on the continent. Blending live music, puppetry, and dynamic movement, the production is a theatrical rollercoaster; an electrifying tale of vengeance and justice that asks how far one woman will go to right a wrong, even if it means setting the world ablaze.

Description: Irnfried

Born a girl but after her mother suffered post natal depression and left the family, she was brought up by her father, who saw her as a boy and taught her to fight and become a warrior. She now serves Etzel, and is not one to rock the boat. She feels separate from all the Hun women. However, in Kreimhild, she recognises another outsider, and becomes an important ally.

We are looking for actors who are also excellent movers/dancers, who can articulate, grounded, tribal/ceremonial physicality. They will also require excellent ensemble dance skills, which will include puppetry, complex movement sequences, and manipulating transition. Please only apply if you have extensive dance / movement experience.

As an actor you should also have extensive experience in professional theatrical productions – although the character is also very grounded she forms a partnership with Hawart and together they provide a little comic relief to the piece.  Experience in comedy is also welcomed.

Though the script will be in German, this role’s dialogue is primarily in English, though you will need to learn some very basic German words/phrases as the character learns more of the German language throughout the play.  We are not looking for a natural German speaker.

You will work closely with Movement Director Christopher Evans (Gecko, Hofesh Shechter).
