Working alongside The National Trust and Trust New Art, we set out to create an immersive art installation that provoked discussion on the importance of books to culture, education and humanity and how they have been treated throughout history.
Visitors were encouraged to explore the estate, finding examples where books had been banned, burned, redacted, neglected, drowned, defiant and superseded.
We wanted to loosely confront the audience with a visual representation of the destruction books have suffered over the years. Each installation represented different methods of neglect and we gave all our visitors the opportunity to wander freely around the space and reflect.
